I played Lineage 2 since C1, back when I was in high school. I spent way too many hours in those grind spots, and I met a lot of people there, some of them became real friends. I always missed those days.

So I started taking the old Interlude client apart and rebuilding its world inside Godot 4. This is my notebook for it. I write down what I did, what worked, and what broke, mostly so I do not forget.

Link to Part 1

  2. Sharper textures, and a bit of depth
  3. Old effects or new ones, your pick
  4. Skills, and reading the client to fake its effects
  5. Items, combat, and other players
  6. Real bodies and a real sky
  7. Decrypting multiplayer data
  8. Going multiplayer, talking to an L2J server
  9. Buildings, trees, water and sky
  10. Getting the map terrain out of Lineage 2 and into Godot
